Battlefield 2 as many know has turned out to be one of the most successful online PC FPS games ever released. This of course has meant that console fans are now yearning for this game to come to their systems so they can experience what can only be described as a masterpiece in the gaming world.
The game centres not around spray and pray like other FPS’s, oh no - this game requires tactics, teamwork, ingenuity and sufficient use of support using some of the 30 plus vehicles available to take down your enemy’s strongholds. The multiplayer is based on battlefield supremacy, you must take flags much like Territories in Halo 2, then once you have control of the flag not only do you decrease the enemies territories but you can spawn from them which in essence will get you closer to the action, because trust me there’s nothing worse than running for 5 minutes across the battlefield, with your gun ready to fire, then BAM, you get sniped and have to start from square one. Of course to aid your attacks you can use helicopters, tanks, humvees, buggys, APC’s and much more. But this is where yet again teamwork comes in, for example if you send in a convoy of tanks into one of your enemies territories no doubt 10 seconds your fellow tank driver will have to dodge rockets, mortar fire, air strikes and a hell of a lot more, so you need to support your vehicles, no support, no victories. The whole game is focused on making gamers feel they are leading real squads, barking out real orders, living the game.
Battlefield 2 since its creation has always been based around its successful multiplayer, and if you played single player on the PC version you will see that it is in fact very similar to the PC multiplayer but instead of having your friends to pop shots off at you, you'll be firing at AI soldiers. With the consoles the campaign mode has been completely redesigned, and in the new improved single player you will be fighting for survival on loads of different missions in the unforgiving depths of Kazakhstan.
Literally all the features from the widely popular PC version have been tweaked a tad here and there to compensate for those who like to play with a controller rather than a keyboard. The console version will give you the opportunity to choose to play as the European Union, the US, the Middle Eastern Coalition or the Chinese. As well as being able to choose which nationality you play as you will also be able to choose what role you play in battle, you could go for the bog standard assault specialist with your rifle and grenade launcher in hand to clear the way, or you could be a sneaky special ops using your C4 to dispatch enemy tanks or maybe even the crafty old sniper and take a few shots at some unsuspecting enemies. Also nothing has been spared online, with leader boards, stats, ranks, your trusty old friends list, and of course one of the best features is that you can make your very own clan which is perfect for a game which above all requires teamwork.
This games release date so far has been announced around the first quarter of 2006, we’ve already seen stunning shots from X05 which just show that none of the 360’s power has been left out of this game. If the demo is anything to go by then the 360 world is in for a treat.
