Considering a GameCube this Christmas? Want to top up on your collection but have missed out on a great game? Or perhaps you just want some options. Whatever it is, welcome to the ultimate GameCube wishlist for this Christmas.
Pearly White Nintendo GameCube with Mario Smash Football (Super Mario Strikers)
 UK: £79.99
Whether you own one or not, it’s hard to deny that at such a low price, the GameCube is a must-own console for any gamer. This fantastic bundle offers you not only the sexiest breed of GameCube yet, but also a fantastic multiplayer game bundled in at a bargain price. While unavailable in the USA, it can still often be found around auction sites, but there’s always the Super Smash Bros. Melee bundle...
Resident Evil 4
 UK: £29.99, USA: $39.99
One of the greatest games of this generation is available in un-cut gore glory on Nintendo’s little box of joy. The president’s daughter has been kidnapped and you’re sent to rescue her, but something strange is going on in that village which leads to a much longer and heart-poundingly terrifying investigation. Not only will it scare you silly, but it’ll give you one of the best gameplay experiences you’ll ever have.
Tales of Symphonia
 UK: £29.99, USA: $39.99
Namco’s Tales series is arguably very popular, but ToS is easily the best of the series. You might have a hard time finding this stunning RPG game as it’s so sought after, but once you’ve played through the two-disc stunner you’ll have no regrets. A little slow to start, ToS follows the story of Lloyd, Collette and Genis, as well as their friends and family, as they set out on an adventure to save the land.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
 UK: £29.99, USA: $39.99
Whilst this Zelda game may not have seen such glorified success as other games in the franchise, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t very good. In fact, ‘very good’ would be a total understatement, as if you can find a friend of three to play along with you, this’ll easily become one of your favourite multiplayer experiences ever. Take the role of one of four Links and work with and against friends to progress through this fully multiplayer Zelda game. We loved it to death.
GameCube – Game Boy Advance Cable
 UK: £8.99, USA: $9.99
Four Swords Adventures gets a whole lot better with friends - and you’ll need these little bits of kit to play with them. These can also be used in many other GameCube games to unlock new features, play minigames, link up to the GBA versions and more, but be sure you own a Game Boy Advance (SP) as these cables will not work with Game Boy micro or Nintendo DS.
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
UK: £34.99 (bongos), USA: $44.99 (bongos), USA: $34.99 (no bongos)
Sure, it may sound like a gimmick, but don’t let that scare you away from a fantastic platform game. The bongo controller is used in ways only a company that Nintendo could think of, leaving you with a fantastic, innovative game – one that isn’t even half as fun with the standard controller. The Donkey Kong platform games have always been top-notch, and this is certainly no different.
Game Boy Player
 UK: £29.99, USA: $39.99
Whether you own a Game Boy Advance or not, this is the ultimate way to play all of your portable games when at home. Not only does the Game Boy Player offer improved graphics for the games, but also lots of options, such as a timer and customisation of borders. This hardware accessory snugly fits into the bottom of your GameCube and gives it an instant library of hundreds of extra games.
Wavebird Controller
 UK: £29.99, USA: $34.99
There’s been a lot of recent debate as to which is the best controller ever created – is it the Xbox 360 controller, or Nintendo’s Wavebird? Well, whatever the answer, the Wavebird is easily Nintendo’s comfiest controller and it’ll last for literally days of constant play without requiring a new pair of AA batteries. Why limit yourself to cables when you can find yourself one of the best controllers ever created right there in your local game shop?
Question Mark Block Cushion
 USA: $39.99
While currently only available by import, this Japanese cushion is certainly one of the most fun gamers’ accessories ever created. Play your GameCube in style with a couple of these 35cm cushions to give you unrivalled comfort and a real talking point for your boring sofa!
Panasonic Q
 JP: ¥41,790 (UK: £205, USA: $360)
If you’ve got a little cash to blow, it might be worth importing the Panasonic Q. This DVD-playing GameCube comes not in purple, but in a sexy chrome finish, with an inspiring look, a Panasonic Q controller and remote, as well as plenty of cool blue lights and buttons. If you’re a Nintendo gamer and want something to truly brag about, this’ll quickly become your pride and joy. That is, if you can actually find one of the things.
We hope that the list has aided all of you GameCube owners and future owners out there – there are plenty of fantastic games to own, but this should be a great start for you. And whatever you do, don’t forget to pre-order your copy of Zelda: Twilight Princess as soon as you can, as it’s going to be hotter than ever. |
