In an interview with EDGE magazine, European Developers Relations Manager for ATI, Richard Huddy, has enlightened readers by discussing the comparative power of the PlayStation 3.
When speaking about the PS3 E3 demos that were witnessed by competitors, industry specialists and gamers alike, he told EDGE, "I think it's more likely that they can be realised on an Xbox 360 than they can be on a PS3. ... The movies were generated as movies and dressed up as: 'This is what you can expect from a PS3', but that's probably overstating what the PS3 can do a little bit. Indeed, it's well beyond what we expect the PS3 to be able to do. So I guess we'll just have to see what happens..."
The PlayStation systems have a history of being overly hyped, with the first batch of PS2 screenshots demonstrating incredible graphics and the PSX receiving significant last-minute hardware cuts, leaving customers unhappy.
The brief interview transcript can be seen over at GamersReports and contains some interestingly-made pointers from an industry specialist, so be sure to take a read.
Whatever the case, we’ll find out what is real for sure in the coming year. |

The Metal Gear Solid 4 assets had me drooling like a madman, but having a high-ranking techxpert make comments like this is frustrating. I'm looking forwards to seeing playable demos at E3

ATI is making stuff for the 360, therefore support the 360
This isnt rocket science, of course theyll support the 360 more than the ps3

I suppose Microsoft and their buddies are trying to slap Sony in the face in retaliation for what they said about the Xbox 360, the HD era, etc.
PREPARE BITCHSLAPPING GLOVES.

I don't believe anything until I can taste, hear, smell, see, and feel it.

theoretical floating points don't = real world graphics. 360 is far easier to develop for I've been saying this forever.
