Square-Enix on next-gen: No decision

Chris Holmes, 1- 2005

Article summary (if available):
Our survey says...

As you all aware, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will be releasing their next-gen consoles very soon (Microsoft as soon as today), but interestingly, it seems Square- Enix, developers of huge games like the Chrono and Final Fantasy series, doesn’t want to rush to support one console over another, and thus have released this following press release:

“Speculation about the availability of FINAL FANTASY series and DRAGON QUEST series games on these systems has been reported on various media. However, we have made no concrete decision on our strategic direction of this issue.

We will continue to disclose any important information regarding business operations immediately after we make any relevant decision.”

This sounds to us as if they might decide to launch the games on all formats to ease overall rising development costs, but of course, we can’t dare to comment on such speculation, so we'll be sure to bring you more on this interesting saga as soon as Square-Enix make it available.

They should just release ALL games on ALL consoles. That would be nice.
